Easthampton Film Festival / Mind Left Body:
call for video footage submissions!
Do you love music and film? Join beloved local Grateful Dead Tribute Band Mind Left Body and Easthampton Film Festival in creating an unforgettable evening of community. This is your chance to be a part of the show! We’re celebrating the Grateful Dead getting “back on the bus” in 1976 after a two-year hiatus. Think of the anticipation the Grateful Dead family was experiencing - to be back with their Deadhead community after two long years! Send us your short (30 seconds max) submission that will be edited into a larger short film celebrating community, independent filmmaking, and Mind Left Body’s music. Hang out during set break to check out the finished film, a collage of your short, visual, cinematic moments that capture feelings of freedom, movement, togetherness, and joy.
Here’s what to submit:
-
Duration: up to 30 seconds of your video footage.
-
Format: MP4, MOV, or similar (horizontal preferred)
-
Audio: Optional. No narrative needed - we’ll set this all to the band’s music and edit it together based on what we receive from YOU!

-
Deadline: Friday, November 6th, 2026

The Prompt: "What does Community mean to you?”
Your footage can be literal (e.g. a family celebrating together, dancing at a concert) or metaphorical (e.g. time lapse of grass growing). The goal is to capture a feeling: joy, growth, connection, etc. You might think about trips you have taken on which you met new friends and strengthened existing relationships, or times in which you felt like a part of a larger group aligned around a certain event or idea, or aspects of living in this area that especially feel like Home, or it can be something else entirely that makes sense to you.

Mind Left Body Gets "Back on the Bus" with 1976 Grateful Dead Tribute at CitySpace
EASTHAMPTON, MA, August 29, 2026 - CitySpace will host local psychedelic rockers Mind Left Body for a one-night-only performance celebrating the Grateful Dead's storied 1976 return to the road. The concert takes place on Saturday, November 26, 2026, at 8 p.m. (doors at 7:30 p.m.) at CitySpace in the Blue Room at Easthampton's Old Town Hall, 43 Main Street, Easthampton, MA.
Mind Left Body: Back on the Bus revisits the year the Grateful Dead re-emerged from a 20-month hiatus and, in the words of band member Brian:
"1976 was near the peak of the 'Mega Rock' era, when the altruistic ideals of the '60s were tossed aside in favor of glitz, glamour, and gimmicks, and rock fans flocked to impersonal, sold-out stadium spectacles by giants like Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Kiss, The Eagles, and The Who. Meanwhile, ever the contrarians, the Grateful Dead had retired from the road two years earlier in part because they disliked playing stadiums. So when the band, and the Deadheads who missed them, got 'back on the bus' in the summer of the nation's bicentennial, they chose, whenever possible, to book multiple nights in mid-sized music halls with good acoustics rather than rejoin the stadium rockers. This wasn't just about better sound and a more intimate experience, on this first tour in 20 months, the band wanted to present something fresh, yet familiar. As the Dead lyric goes, 'the music play(s) the band'. Though they had countless songs in their repertoire, old and new, they began the Summer 1976 tour with just a basic idea of what this post-hiatus Grateful Dead would sound like live. So what is 1976 Grateful Dead? We like to believe it's the sound of transition, of growth, of process, of experimentation - of planting seeds for the 'perfect every time' Dead of the following year. It's the sound of enjoying the ride."
Since its first CitySpace fundraising show in 2022, Mind Left Body has been giving Easthampton a bit of a chronological Grateful Dead history lesson with each annual performance:
-
2022: The legendary 1972 show in Veneta, OR
-
2023: Watkins Glen, NY, 1973 - 600,000 strong
-
2024: The "farewell" shows of 1974, beginning a 20-month touring hiatus
-
2025: 1975, a year to regroup, reboot, redefine, and record
-
2026: 1976 - the Dead's transitional, experimental return to the road
This year's show leans into that spirit of experimentation off the stage as well. Mind Left Body is teaming up with the Easthampton Film Festival (EFF) and ThreeThinx, Morph Lighting Collective's featured visual artist, on a collaboration that will bring fans directly into the show. Stay tuned to our socials for an exciting way to get involved.
The evening will also feature a small Shakedown Street–style market of local artists and makers, bringing together Easthampton's creative communities for a night where music, film, and art feed off each other's energy, a fitting tribute to a band that's always let the scene shape the show.
Beyond the music, the event supports CitySpace's ongoing restoration of Old Town Hall, helping preserve and reimagine the historic building as a cultural hub for western Massachusetts.
Whether you're a lifelong Deadhead or discovering the music for the first time, this tribute promises a night of extraordinary sound, visuals, memory, and community.
